20 Country Songs to Get Ready With

Nothing’s better than a little romance… am I right ladies?

It comes in so many different forms too which makes the whole love game exciting (not to mention frustrating sometimes lol). It’s still worth every moment though.

Granted, life (in my world) is not at all like those dreamy Hallmark movies that I obsess over, but I sure do learn a thing or two on my end on how to be more loving and kind to the ones I love.

Tonight, I get to be taken out to one of my favorite restaurants with the man I love on a romantic (& early) Valentine’s day celebration! Who couldn’t be happy? BUT there’s just one problem… WHAT DO I WEAR???

Okay, so I’ve never really been the type of girl who spends hours getting ready, but there are those times that I like to take some extra time making this body fancy. So, I have gathered up 20 of the best “getting ready” country songs for you to blast while picking out that perfect outfit & putting on makeup for a romantic night out with your man.

Listen easy with my premade Spotify playlist! Click HERE 🙂

Friendship Bucket List

A couch + time.

That’s all we need.

My best friends are one of the most amazing parts of my life. They are what truly keep me sane. A good margarita in the mix does well for me too 😉

I may be partial because I just spent the past four hours hanging out in the living room with two of my best friends doing nothing but talking. No tv. No radio. No games. No booze (okay maybe a margarita each…). Nothing but our own voices and our own excitement to just talk to each other. But, honestly if you have friends that you can do that with… you have it made.

To each their own, but in my world, there aren’t a lot of people & I like it that way. It’s true that over time you find out who your friends are. I have three of the most amazing best friends in the world. Each unique & awesome in their own way. Best part is, we all get along 😀

Let me take you back:

I met two of them mid-college years; we were all in design classes together. The one I kept in touch with often after college, 1. because we are true masterminds together lol and 2. because we just can’t resist to get away from our men for a bit to indulge on burritos and margaritas at the Mexican restaurant in town. 😉 The other: recently we “reunited” and have determined that we will be friends till death because we are almost the same person LOL & then the third best friend of mine came to be when I started working with her at a small & cute little company (I took over her job there and she moved to a different position). Over the course of one year, we became such good friends that we can literally spend an entire day talking about anything and STILL have more to talk about the next day.

“Never settle for shitty coffee, shitty friends, or shitty men.”

Many people have come in and out of my life. I can honestly & without hesitation say that I wouldn’t be the positive, happy, and healthy person I am today without these three women. As Jane Fonda said, “Women’s friendships are like a renewable resource of power.” And although some will be the complete opposite, some will be just this & MORE! Find those women and be that type of a friend.

To make things even more fun, I have created a friendship bucket list to do this year! I will be keeping you up to date with each check and I encourage you to do the same with your BFF(S)!

Here we go ladies, we got this!

  1. Take silly photobooth pictures
  2. Have a Disney movie marathon
  3. Make fancy cookies
  4. Take a road trip
  5. Do yoga at sunrise (at the beach would be awesome!)
  6. Make our own lip balm
  7. Do a Pinterest craft together
  8. All wear pink on Wednesday
  9. Upcycle a yard sale find
  10. Spa day
  11. Cook a fancy dinner
  12. Read the same book together
  13. Breakfast date
  14. Game night
  15. Go glow bowling
  16. Thrift store shopping
  17. Movie date
  18. Make art for other’s house

I challenge you to make your own list & go a lil crazy!

Unposed & Authentic

I have such an exciting life.

It’s Saturday night and I’m currently sitting at home, alone (my guy is such a hardworking man in the garage), drinking a smooth nice pink moscato, and editing photos from my past few free shoots.

I can’t tell you how much I’d love to start my own photography business one day. I have one BIG problem… I’m constantly comparing myself to others who have already made it. I have thankfully overcome the thoughts of “your photos are as good as the pros”. I took a stand and made myself truly believe that my photos are good enough, that I am good enough, and that I am a pro.

That being said, my flaws lie within the social media output of myself…

I am more than an open book to anyone I talk to for more than 10 minutes. BUT when it comes to being on the other side of the camera, I am way out of my comfort zone. When I was little, I would find the camera to jump in front of it and be a silly little girl. Anymore though, forget it.

Any advice?

I have a session set up for next week to see how uncomfortable I can get! More on that later… for now, enjoy some sneaks of my unposed & totally authentic photographs of these lovely couples 🙂

10 Books to Read this Year

I could easily spend WAY too much money on cheap books.

Am I the only one?

Every year I aim to read more and every year I fall very short in reaching it. I refuse to let that happen again this year. I would absolutely LOVE if I had some of you read along with me as a fun little blogging book club! (Email me or comment below if you’re interested!!)

Full disclosure, I haven’t read any of these books… so they could very well be amazing or complete duds. 😉 BUT you can expect I’ll be posting all about each one to let you know!

I’m one of the few who can’t read books on a screen; I truly need that feeling of the real pages in my hands. I also totally go for the cheapest version which is normally the used ones… why not?! But I won’t judge if you have a kindle or whatever & get the books for free. Whatever works!!

20 Facts About Me

Ever have one of those “this will be so hard because it’s too easy” sort of situations?

Welcome to my boat… we’re going through tough waters to nowhere… you may want a life jacket 😉

In an effort to open up and let you all get to know me, I thought it would be a nice change to make a list instead of a typical introduction. Plus, I love lists!

So here goes nothing:

1. I grew up in a small town & now currently live in the neighboring small town.

2. Photography is a hobby I absolutely love & hope to grow into a business someday.

3. I obsess over motivational quotes.

4. Whenever we buy a house, no doubts, I’m getting  my dream dog… either a German Shepard or a Bluetick Coonhound.

5. Hallmark movies get me every time. I’m a sucker for the adorable romance.

6. I bought myself a truck on Valentine’s Day three years ago… shortly before I met the love of my life.

7. I love candles! My boyfriend actually just bought me one today and it’s by far one of my all-time favorites already. He got it from Tractor Supply, but it’s made from Swan Creek Candle Co. Soooo good & not expensive! (Currently enjoying it burn right now lol)

8. My go-to alcoholic drink is a margarita. Any flavor, any size… just gimme sugar not salt.

9. I have a typical addiction to Pinterest. I use it more than and instead of Google a lot of the time.

10. Visiting every state is one of my lifetime goals and secretly would love to do so as a honeymoon.

Seriously guys, this is hard.

11. I’m pretty into country music… but I like to jump over to 80’s rock and roll and some pop music every now and then.

12. I live with the silliest and the weirdest guy on earth, but he keeps me laughing, makes sure I work towards my goals, hugs like no other, and loves me unconditionally… so I love him too 😉 We’ve been together for almost 3 years now. I can’t say every moment has been our finest, but our good times are better than ever 🙂

13. The Home Goods store & Michaels make me go broke.

14. I read a lot about (and practice) eating and living organic. It’s amazing what you’ll find out, believe me.

15. Coffee ♡

Home Goods buys. #goingbroke #ohwell

16. I love to learn new things… it’s why I have a thousand different interests. I’m getting better though 😉

17. I own too many blankets. If the world freezes over, I’ll be all set.

18. A Jeep Wrangler is my ultimate dream vehicle. I’d love to buy a fixer upper and make it my very own. One day it will happen!

19. I have this thing for positivity & kindness. It’s addicting & I think everyone needs to jump on that bandwagon.

20. I am constantly writing lists, but when it’s not about doing the laundry and what groceries to buy, it gets a little challenging.

On that note, I made it! There is definitely so much more about me I could dish out, but I’ll save that for a rainy day when I have nothing else to write about 😉

Let’s Be Happy!

Ahhh, to be inside and cozy in the middle of a northern winter…

I love the beach and running around outside in a sun dress, but one of the best feelings for me is being cuddled up on the couch with my love under a big blanket just watching the snow fall. Coziness is not just a state of warmth for me; it’s a feeling of happiness.

#nofilter #smiles #snowy #aviators

Cozy Northern Girl was named because not only was I born and raised in the good ol’ North, but I am always on the hunt for ways to be more happy & cozy with my life. Self-improvement and self-care is a newly developed love of mine over this past year. As a coincidence, I did begin this blog in the middle of winter and it may have affected the name somewhat… but let’s not go there 😉

I wanted to create a space that was all things me… but more importantly, I wanted to share what I’ve learned about taking care of yourself & being happy in life!

So, I invite you to grab that cup of coffee, glass of wine, or some ice cream 😉 pop a squat and let’s enjoy this ride together to a happier & healthier life!

OH! And if you’d like to be friends… YAY!
